Singapore
: Underwater World
(on Sentosa Island)
Asia's most exciting tropical aquarium, Underwater World,
gives the visitor a fish's-eye view of the mysteries of the
sea. Its submerged tunnel, with a moving walkway, takes you
past more than 2,500 marine creatures from 250 species. It
is a strange yet exciting feeling - like you are in a submarine
with a glass roof, watching huge fish and hungry sharks cruise
above and around you. The view is ever changing. You will
journey from the coral reef to the open ocean, bypassing the
lost city of Atlantis, traveling through mysterious dark realms
and entering a sea cave inhabited by gigantic sea creatures.
Be dazzled by the display of seahorses, the weedy sea dragon
which resembles the mythical Chinese dragon, piranhas, electric
eels and even a dugong.
Not all of Underwater World's attractions are below the surface.
The Turtle Pool is home to the endangered Green and Hawksbill
turtles. You will relish the contact with marine creatures
such as starfish and sea cucumbers in the aptly named Touch
Pool.
The Dolphin Lagoon is Underwater World Singapore's latest
attraction and is located on the Central Beach of Sentosa
Island. This lagoon is home to several Indo-Pacific Humpback
Dolphins, also known as the Pink Dolphins. A variety of interactive
and educational activities, designed to demonstrate the natural
ability of these dolphins, are now available daily. Did you
know that pop superstar Mariah Carey had the wonderful opportunity
to swim with these dolphins during her visit to Singapore
in the Spring of 2000?
For the more adventurous folks, you may also arrange to dive
with the sharks for SGD 95 which includes provision of diving
gear. Advance booking is required. To book, call the Marketing

You may have watched sharks eating in an aquarium. Why not
give them a chance to watch you eat?
For the first time in the world, you can dive into a whole
new thematic dining experience on the seafloor. At Underwater
World Singapore, you can savor a sumptuous dinner on a gently
moving underwater walkway, enjoy a breathtaking view under
the sea accompanied by live soft music, and be entertained
by a fascinating underwater performance. As you tuck into
your delicious meal, you will notice thousands of pairs of
eyes eyeing you with a growing interest. You'll wonder: Are
they thinking of me as a meal as well?
